Life Lessons from Jonathan Livingstone Seagull

Who of us has not wondered, at some point in life, if we really are living to our fullest potential? That we are really experiencing all that we are capable of experiencing?

Every human being has been given the capacity to live abundantly, without boundaries. But the scope of this freedom is too large for many of us to comprehend, so we shy away from the vastness of all that is possible and instead, we prefer to hide behind artificial limitations.

And yet, the human Spirit was meant to strive and achieve great things. There is, in each of us, a still, small voice that tells us: “No. That’s not all there is to it. You were meant to live life to the fullest. Abundantly!”

Today’s affirmations are drawn from the 1976 book “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”, written by American author Richard Bach. It is a simple story with a profound message: that we can all be so much more than we believe, or are given to believe…..and that God - or fortune, if you wish - is on the side of the bold, the adventurous and the free in Spirit.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull was an out-of-the-box thinker. He discovered that for those who dare to dream, even the sky is not the limit.

All you need to do is to intuitively choose a number between 1 and 9, and see which inspirational message and Young Living oil is choosing you today. Sit with the message, and see what gifts it offers for your life:

1. I do not exist to impress the world.
I exist to live my life in a way that will make me happy.
Oil Blend: Joy

2. Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you.
All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know,
and you’ll see the way to fly.
Oil Blend: Journey On

3. If your happiness depends on what somebody else does,
I guess we have a problem.
Oil Blend: Gary’s Light

4. To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is,
you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived.
Oil Blend: Present Time

5. One of the great cosmic laws, I think,
is that whatever we hold in our thought will come true in our experience.
When we hold something, anything, in our thought, then somehow we are led in the
direction that we’ve been wishing to lead ourselves.
Oil Blend: Envision

6. Our conscience is the measure of the honesty of our selfishness.
Listen to it carefully.
Oil Blend: Common Sense

7. That’s what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game,
but how we lose and how we’ve changed because of it,
and what we take away from it that we never had before.
Losing, in a curious way is winning.
Oil Blend: Humility

8. Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished:
if you’re alive, it isn’t.
Oil Blend: Live your Passion

9. The trick is to stop seeing yourself as trapped inside a limited body,
with a wingspan and performance that can be plotted on a chart.
The trick is to know that your true nature lives, as perfect as an unwritten number,
everywhere at once across space and time.
Oil Blend: Believe
