The Fool on the Hill

Who's the Fool? Day after day, alone on the hill,The man with a foolish grinIs keeping perfectly still; But nobody wants to know him,They can see that he’s just a fool,And he never gives an answer. But the fool on the hillSees the sun going downAnd the eyes in his headSee the world spinning ‘round. I’ve always loved that song by The Beatles. It speaks to me of someone who knows a whole lot more than the crowds who stand in judgment. As a society, we greatly underestimate the power of the Fool. Let’s explore what it really means, and why “Fool-dom” is one of the highest states you can attain….even greater than “Wis-dom”. In Medieval Europe and the Renaissance...

Life Lessons from Jonathan Livingstone Seagull

Who of us has not wondered, at some point in life, if we really are living to our fullest potential? That we are really experiencing all that we are capable of experiencing? Every human being has been given the capacity to live abundantly, without boundaries. But the scope of this freedom is too large for many of us to comprehend, so we shy away from the vastness of all that is possible and instead, we prefer to hide behind artificial limitations.   And yet, the human Spirit was meant to strive and achieve great things. There is, in each of us, a still, small voice that tells us: “No. That’s not all there is to it. You were meant to...

An Ancient Egyptian Ritual

In January 2000, I was invited to attend a special conference. 1,100 people from around the world flew into Dallas to attend a 4 day essential oil training with D. Gary Young, the founder of Young Living Essential Oils. It was there that I first learned the Emotional Clearing Technique, which I shared about in my last blog. Gary talked about his recent adventure in Egypt, where he’d visited the Temple of Isis on the Island of Philae. When he was there, one of the temple guards had approached him, and invited Gary to follow him. It took some persuasion – Gary had no idea why this guard had singled him out of the many tourists who were there that...

Returning to Oneness

. The Power of Lockdown I have been one of the fortunate ones. My region has only been in lockdown for a bit over 3 weeks, compared to the months and months of lockdown experienced in some cities. At first, lockdown felt like a holiday. My body relaxed, I had nowhere else to be but at home, and I enjoyed the quietness. But a couple of weeks into it, I noticed myself becoming agitated. I felt trapped, imprisoned in my beautiful home. The birds were still singing, the possums and koalas were still letting me know they were around, the trees and flowers were still waving in the breeze. I was still going out a few times a week to plant...

Words of Inspiration by Sylvain Tesson

In our current world of snap lockdowns and isolation, many people are struggling. Being in a confined space without the distractions of everyday life can bring many demons to the surface, and it can be deeply uncomfortable.Back in 2010, Sylvain Tesson found a radical solution to his need for freedom - one as ancient as the experiences of the hermits of old Russia. He decided to lock himself in a cabin on the shores of Baikal (Siberia) for six months. From February to July 2010, he lived in silence, solitude, and cold. His cabin, built by Soviet geologists in the Brezhnev years, was a cube of logs three meters by three meters. It was heated by a cast iron skillet,...
