Man cannot discover new oceans until he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. – quote from “A guide for the Advanced Soul” by Susan Hayward. You may have noticed it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog. For years, I’ve written every two weeks like clockwork. It’s been easy, as I draw from my most powerful “ah ha” moments in my life. But 10 weeks ago, my words dried up. I wasn’t worried. I recognised it as a by-product of the process of deep transformation that I’m in right now. When we let go of all that is known, of that shore that is sooooo familiar to us, there is a period of uncertainty and emptiness....
It is often said that one of the most significant journeys we ever make is the one from our head to our heart. This is true. Yet there is another step on our spiritual path which is equally as significant. That is the journey from the mind to the Earth. It’s a journey that takes us from being “out there” to “here now”. When I was young, my dreams were my happy place. I’d escape the challenges of life by immersing myself in books and fantasies, and by dreaming big. When I was trapped with my siblings and parents on long car rides, I looked out the window and filled my mind with daydreams and imaginations. It was the...
Inspired by the book “Women who run with the wolves” by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés There is a voice older than words, one that echoes in bone and blood. It is the Wild Soul — the instinctual self that knows, protects, creates, and remembers. This voice lives in us all. Although this book speaks through the stories and symbols of the feminine, these teachings are archetypal. The Wild Woman is not bound by gender. She is an energy that walks with every soul ready to reclaim their inner wilderness — their truest, untamed self. This offering is for all who feel the call of the wild soul — for those who know they are here to live deeply, love fiercely, and return...
I’ve often wondered about the missing piece in the jigsaw of my life. It’s frustrating to see all those pieces so beautifully laid out, all making perfect sense….yet there’s that one piece missing from the puzzle. Last night I found it. I’d love to say it was easy. I’d love to say, “If you do this and this, you too will find your missing piece”. But I’d be lying if I did. Finding it wasn’t easy. It was that shadow that flitted out of the corner of my eye, hinting that it was there, yet always disappearing before I could focus on it and get it in my grasp. The only way I could find it was by letting down...
A couple of weeks ago, I found myself in a tough situation. I was in Singapore airport, and had just boarded my flight to Sri Lanka when the crew announced that we had technical issues. We were about to spend 2 hours on the tarmac waiting for those issues to be resolved, prior to our 4 hour flight. I was feeling strung out. It had been a long day to get this far, and the seats had very little legroom for my graceful, tall body. But my discomfort was the least of my problems. Sitting next to me was my friend. This was her third flight, and she wasn’t doing well at all. Some digestive issues had started triggering, and...
