We’ve all heard of amazing stories showing the deep connection that can exist between an animal and a human being. This beautiful story was passed on to us, and we found it so deeply inspiring that we wanted to share it with you too! You can the read the full story in Jeff Guidry’s book: 'An Eagle Named Freedom'. Jeff writes: Freedom and I have been together 11 years this summer. She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken wings. Her left wing doesn't open all the way even after surgery, it was broken in 4 places. She's my baby. When Freedom came in, she could not stand and both wings were broken. She was emaciated and covered in lice. We made...
Have you noticed how intense the energies are right now? When I look around me, so many people I love and care about are going through incredible challenges, whether that’s concerning health issues, sick loved ones, financial challenges, or just a sense of utter overwhelm. And it’s no wonder. Our Planet has shifted on its axis. It’s tipped, and that’s created a sudden and significant shift in the Planet’s energies. While we were all focussed on the pandemic, lockdowns and other challenges from recent years, our Planet has given birth to a new self. It’s as if we were previously all walking upright, and now we need to learn how to walk on an angle. Our whole centre of gravity...
I’ve found over and over that the practice of spirituality transcends whatever barriers a language difference presents. However, sometimes words are a powerful means of carrying us into the language of the body. The right words become the river that ferries us from this world of intellectualising and analytical thinking, across to the shadowy world of feeling. A poem is a bridge between the language of the mind and the language of the Soul. These are excerpts from 10 of my favourite poems for spiritual guidance. Use these words in whatever way moves you. Intuitively pick a number between 1 and 9, to see which poem and single oil or blend is choosing you today: 1. PerfectionWild Geese by Mary...
Artemis (my namesake) is the Greek Goddess of Nature and the Moon. She was the protector of women and small animals. So knowing that, it seems quite a contradiction that I came into this world with an unfathomable terror of spiders. Unless they were one of those teensy, weensy, almost invisible “money spiders”, they were the “terriblest monster” to me. I ran screaming (yes literally, screaming) into another room whenever I spotted one. And this has been happening for as long as I can remember. In fact, as a child I used a torch each evening to check in my bedsheets and under my bed for spiders. They were worse than any boogey man. Now, knowing what I know, I...
A few days ago, I was driving home. It was a peaceful drive along a tree-lined street, and I was feeling especially happy. Up ahead of me, I noticed two water dragons sitting in the middle of the road – one large one, the other a teensy hatchling. As I approached them, they didn’t run off, which was unusual….so I slowed down even more, to give them the space to move out of my way. That’s when I noticed something in the middle of the road where they had been standing. It was a dark stain, just subtly darker than the bitumen itself. “That’s odd,” I thought. But I already had a sickening hunch of what it was. Unfortunately, my...
