The Sound of the Gong

I’ve lived in Byron Bay for over 7 years, and one of the highlights of this region is its beautiful beaches. My favourite beach walk has always been the stretch from Main Beach to Clarks Beach, where I have a spectacular view of the Byron Bay lighthouse as I walk East, and the beautiful mountains as I walk West. What an amazing way to ground and connect with the Earth! I’ve loved planting my feet in the sand, breathing in the fresh ocean air, watching the antics of the amazing seabirds, and at times grinning from ear to ear if I spot a dolphin or whale, or any other unusual creature. Connecting with nature in this way is the perfect way...

The Oil of Gaia

In 2003 I took my first ever adventure to visit an aromatic farm. This farm was located in the north of Idaho, near a town called Saint Maries. Being reasonably remote, I needed to fly into Spokane (Washington), then drive 1.5 hours across the border into Idaho. I still remember the joy of camping under the stars, listening to the coyotes howling in the distance. There was something very magical about the energy on this farm. It had been the first aromatic farm established by D. Gary Young, the founder of Young Living Essential Oils. I still remember his story about one time when there was an insect infestation on this farm. He was told he’d have to spray the...

Affirmations for Dissolving Past Hurts

Today was a very powerful day for me. It’s almost five years since I separated from Noel, my husband of 19 years, and today was our divorce hearing. As with most endings, it hasn’t been an easy one for either of us. This week, I’ve been acutely aware of the power we hold within our Self. When so many things can feel out of our control, the one area where we remain sovereign is in our inner world, and our thoughts. These musings have inspired this month’s Affirmations. Intuitively choose a number between 1 and 9, and see which affirmation and Young Living essential oil is choosing you today. 1. When I feel a painful emotion, I am not seeing the situation...

The Tip of the Iceberg

In last week’s blog, I introduced you to a life-changing concept called “The One Thing”, which is based on the book by this same name by Gary Keller.Let’s now take this one step deeper. What if you were to apply this not only to the One Thing you can do right now to propel your life forwards…but also to the One Thing that is most inhibiting your joy, creating self-sabotage, and holding you back from living to your highest potential? Looking deeply and honestly into our own Self takes enormous courage. Ultimately, the work we do on our Self will lead to the death of the ego…that personality that WE created to keep ourselves safe from a perceived harm. And...

When One Domino Falls

The One Thing Last year, I read a book called “The One Thing” by Gary Keller. Prior to that I had always prided myself on how amazing I am at multitasking, always getting so many things achieved in my day. Yet this book was a powerful read, and it completely debunked the myth about the value of multitasking. In fact, it showed that multitasking is a lot less productive than focussing on one thing at a time. Why is that? It’s because when we are multitasking, our attention is never fully on one thing. There is an ENORMOUS power to focussing on a single thing with all of our attention. In fact, this is the art of meditation! And as...
